Our learning program and extra curriculars
Chrysalis offers a Special Needs Adapted Program (SNAP) and Creative Ability-based curriculum. SNAP is a unique child-specific integrated program for children with special needs and focuses on each child’s individual needs in a group and one-on-one setting. Creative Ability is a motivational frame of reference used in Occupational Therapy and applied to a day-by-day Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) curriculum at Chrysalis. Children are placed in classes according to their developmental levels and not according to their age. We have adapted the curriculum to the specific levels of development in each class.
Initially, when children are enrolled, they are assessed over a period to allow them to settle into the program, after which individual goals are created in coordination with the family.
Weekly Activities
Weekly activities are grouped into four categories, namely:- Gross motor stimulation.
- Fine motor stimulation.
- Sensory stimulation.
- Independence skills training.
Group Therapy
In addition, we provide group therapy on Tuesday and Thursday, which include the following:
- Occupational Therapy.
- Music Therapy.
- Speech Therapy.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is available during the school day should these be deemed necessary. These include:
- Occupational Therapy.
- Physiotherapy.
- Music Therapy.
- Speech Therapy.
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Children are therefore presented with a therapeutically adapted curriculum within a multidisciplinary setting, focusing on their individual needs. Small classes ensure individual attention on a daily basis.
