Senior Phase

Chrysalis School’s Senior Phase is the next step for our learners from our Junior Phase, who are not able to bridge into a formal schooling system. This phase caters for teenagers from 12 to 18 years and focuses on:

  • Quality of life
  • Life skills
  • Self-care
  • Literacy
  • Prevocational skills
  • General communication skills with various methods of input

At the Senior Phase, we strive to provide an environment where our learners can learn to plant a vegetable garden, prepare their own food and beverages, learn how to take care of themselves and learn basic prevocational skills. Also, through regular outings to interesting places we provide our class with as many life experiences as possible.

We believe in an open-door policy where the school and parents work together on each learner’s individual goals, with family-led interventions. The school is dual-medium and fully wheelchair accessible.

Our program includes weekly group therapy sessions with an Occupational Therapist and a Music Therapist. Individual therapy is also available but will be billed at medical aid rates.

The Senior Phase is a place of warmth, kindness, passion and love. We welcome any learner with any diagnosis or special need.
